Week 1: Arena Pass battles


We've slain the bosses. We've gotten the world firsts. We've conquered the raiding scene. Now, it's time to destroy the realm of PvP. Introducing our epic PvP team: Mulgore Gnometrotters.

We're not really sure how all of this PvP stuff works, though. It's got something to do with fighting on an arena. We did kill the PvP boss in ToC (even on Heroic) however and that one was pretty easy, so we should be able to slay nerds left and right without breaking a sweat.

We started this week a bit slow, but we practiced by doing a few pulls on the arena realm. This was mainly to get the abilities and timers listed for our boss mod. So we queued up for the Arena with our combatlogs and other addons ready. This proved to be a bit difficult however, as the spells seemed to have no obvious intervals. The opponents were also using some fairly dirty tricks, such as counterspelling our heals or using polymorph. Or sometimes going out of line of sight whilst one of us was in the middle of casting a spell. This was absolutely unfair. There's plenty of people crying for exploits in the PvE scene, but this is absolutely blatant abuse of game mechanics. Whole guilds have gotten banned for abusing line of sight previously.

We did end up losing our matches. We have to figure out a new way to approach this. The timers definitely seemed to be very inaccurate. We have to come up with a good enough AI to simulate these environments and to get it integrated into a boss mod addon somehow. We've got some other ideas as well, but we'll have to test them out first.
