Symbiosis and raid balance

The point of this blog post is to reflect on the consequences of Symbiosis in the 25-man raiding scene, not to whine about Blizzard's not yet finished decisions. As said, a lot of this probably will be changed when MoP hits live servers, but it's important to recognize the problems (and advantages) of the situation already.

Goodbye, For the Horde

For the Horde is one of the oldest high end raiding guilds that we've had the pleasure of being competitors and good friends with. They have always strived to be the best without losing their motivation and soul. We respect the dedication they have put into the raiding scene the past few years we have been competing with them. They have had their ups and downs, but their kills speak for their skill: world second Lich King and world first Cho'gall have earned our respect for the German guild.

Tags:

for the horde

swtor

quitting

goodbye

raiding

Category:

For the Horde

What's in a name?

We've got the epic guild names and we've got the goofy ones. We've got ones that make no sense at all.

But does it even matter? If Paragon was called "FluffyBunnyPatrol" or if Inner Sanctum was called "MOARQQPLX" would that impact their success or how we viewed them?

From the researcher desk: How do we define 'elite' raiding guilds?

What is an elite raiding guild?

If you've ever spoken to me about my research, you know that I’ve been speaking with raiders from all sorts of backgrounds and rankings. This is helping me document the most complete picture of what we are doing in the raiding community and how we like to pursue our love of raiding. In addition to casual, social, hard core, and high-level raiding guilds, I’ve also had a chance to speak to quite a few of what I call the ‘elite raiding guilds’ about their experiences.

I'm also trying something new... might see how it looks here instead.. "raid-themed musical medleys"! See, researchers can be exciting too... seriously.

	Anyway, enjoy. :)
